Steve Rubin - Founder and President
Steve has been in the transportation industry for over 40 years working in nearly every aspect of the business from driving a truck to managing a UPS facility and owning a freight logistics business. His passion since 2000 has been working part time as a SCUBA Diving Instructor. Steve and his wife Barbara founded of the WAVES Project to bring the therapeutic value of SCUBA to help wounded veterans. His desire is to create a community of divers who are both veterans and non-veterans who will provide friendship and support to each other to help heal body, mind and spirit. Steve is a SSI Instructor Trainer, PADI Certified IDC Staff Instructor, First Aid and CPR Instructor and HSA Certified Instructor.
Barbara Rubin - Co-Founder and Treasurer
Barbara has been a small business owner for over 20 years. She is active in the Rotary Club of Temecula and serves on the board of her church. She and husband Steve are the co-founders of the WAVES Project which they started in 2013. Barbara is committed to the success and growth of the WAVES Project and currently serves as Treasurer responsible for financial accountability, Grants and Corporate Giving. Barbara is a PADI Certified Master Scuba Diver.
Gary Winter - Secretary
Gary recently retired from Avis Budget Group after a 40 year career in Sales and Management positions. His last position was as District Manager for the LA, California North Local Market for Avis/Budget cars and Budget Trucks. Gary brings great enthusiasm and a newfound love of SCUBA diving to reach veterans with disabilities. Gary is a PADI Certified Advanced Scuba Diver.
Mary Winter - Board Member
Mary is the owner and CEO of Blue Crow Creative in Menifee. During her career, she has worked with an impressive list of clients including the Ontario Convention & Visitor Bureau, The City of Ontario, City of Temecula, Ameriprise Financial, Citizens Business Bank Arena as well as those in the private sector. She is passionate about community service and is a founding member of the Military Support Committee within the Rotary Club of Temecula, Give Big San Bernardino County, and the WAVES Project. Mary is a PADI Certified Advanced Scuba Diver.
Lisa Locke - Board Member
Lisa is the President of Equity Management & Realty Services in Temecula which focuses on Association Management and Commercial Realty. She is a member of the Temecula Rotary Club serving as President for the 2017/2018 year as well as serving on the Military Committee as liaison to Family Readiness Officers at Camp Pendleton. Lisa also volunteers and serves as Expo Chairperson for the local Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event. She is passionate about serving her community, the military and the WAVES project.
Jeff Ross - Board Member
Jeff manages the Lake Elsinore branch of JCH Tax Group providing accounting and income tax services. He is also an independent Real Estate Investor providing funding for single family residences. He has served as Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Temecula and their Military Committee.
